QMIC Technical Guidelines

For the Acquisition of Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers (QIBs)

What are QIBs?

Quantitative imaging biomarkers (QIBs) are physical measurands extracted from clinical imaging techniques. They allow for robust longitudinal assessments due to high confidence in bias and precision, increased reproducibility of image acquisition, and clinical trial endpoints that lower the sample size required for adequate power. Validated QIBs should be acquired using standardized technical specifications, such as found in QMIC Technical Guidelines.

The guidelines below are digitally published and clinically feasible step-by-step guides to help your team implement quantitative imaging in clinical practice and clinical trials.

Who created QMIC Technical Guidelines?

Many of the QMIC Technical Guidelines originated from committees formed within the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Quantitative Imaging Biomarker Alliance (QIBA). QMIC is grateful for the longstanding support of RSNA QIBA, which brought together experts in these fields and enabled original guideline publications to reach clinical feasibility.
